There is a kind of confidence called Made in Hunan | After "Boats Enter the Middle East", the overseas dream of the inland small city of Yuanjiang.
For Li Jianbo, who has dreamed of building ships and sailing across the seas since childhood, 2024 is a milestone year—one year after exporting the first yacht to Dubai, in February 2024, Hunan Haiquan Yacht Co., Ltd., chaired by him, established a dedicated sales company in Dubai. Known as the paradise of dreamers, Dubai has a coastline of 734 kilometers, and the establishment of this sales company has given Li Jianbo a new dock in the paradise of dreamers.

51-year-old Li Jianbo is from Yuanjiang, Hunan. With developed waterways in Yuanjiang, he remembers that every time he traveled from his hometown in Gonghua Town to Yuanjiang County, he took a boat. The repeated boat trips between the county town and his hometown inspired him and his friends to dream of sailing out of Dongting Lake and drifting across the seas along the Yangtze River.
Unlike his friends, Li Jianbo wanted to sail across the seas on a boat he built himself.
He never thought his dream would come true. He also never imagined that what he was doing would one day be mentioned in materials presented at the National People's Congress—during the ongoing third session of the 14th Hunan Provincial People's Congress, Luo Bisheng, deputy secretary of the Yuanjiang Municipal Committee and mayor, mentioned Haiquan Yacht during the discussion of the Yiyang delegation.

"Haiquan Yacht is based in the south of the great lake, soaring in the south of the colorful clouds, and heading to the south of the sea, with yachts entering the Middle East, becoming an outstanding representative of Yuanjiang enterprises," Luo Bisheng introduced at the subgroup discussion.

In 2015, Li Jianbo's Haiquan Yacht was established in Nandongting Yuanjiang, and in 2022 and 2023, branches were established in Yunnan and Hainan respectively.
Luo Bisheng mentioned Haiquan Yacht during the subgroup discussion while reporting on the development of the Yuanjiang shipbuilding industry.
"China is a major shipbuilding country in the world, and its international market share has ranked first in the world for many consecutive years. In 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and four other departments jointly issued the 'Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Green and Intelligent Development of Inland River Vessels,' making green and intelligent development the future direction. Currently, a new round of 'two new' policy dividends is continuously being released, and key projects such as the 'One River, One Lake, Four Waters' backbone navigation network and the Xianggui Canal are accelerating construction and planning. The demand for inland shipping is continuously expanding, and there is huge growth potential in market consumption, providing rare opportunities for the quality and upgrade of the industry," Luo Bisheng believes that the development of the Yuanjiang shipbuilding industry is "timely."
Yuanjiang has a total of 59 shipbuilding and supporting enterprises. In addition to Haiquan Yacht, Luo Bisheng also highlighted Yaguang Technology, which went public in 2010 and became the first domestic yacht stock. Yaguang Technology and Haiquan Yacht, which have long led the shipbuilding industry in the province, are the leaders in yacht and public vessel manufacturing. Other mentioned companies include Zhonghai and Jinhang, leaders in steel ship manufacturing, and Dihao and Jingyi, leaders in outfitting and supporting equipment production, as well as Taohuajiang Yacht, which uses the port to go to sea.
"In 2024, the total industrial output value of the Yuanjiang shipbuilding industry will reach 12.5 billion yuan, accounting for 80% of the province," Luo Bisheng used data to prove that the Yuanjiang shipbuilding industry "has already taken shape."
In the report, Luo Bisheng candidly stated that although the Yuanjiang shipbuilding industry started early and has a good foundation, it still has many shortcomings compared to similar cities in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, such as an incomplete chain and insufficient brand recognition. In response to these shortcomings and the pressure of not advancing means retreating, Luo Bisheng proposed three suggestions for accelerating the upgrade of the Yuanjiang shipbuilding industry: "macroeconomic control at the provincial level," "promoting industrial agglomeration development," and "strengthening leading enterprises to build brands," hoping to increase support for technological innovation, guide enterprises to increase R&D investment, enhance the year-round navigation capacity of 'One River, One Lake, Four Waters,' and provide support in finance, talent, and other aspects, so that "its prosperity can be expected."
"I hope that the ships we manufacture will not only 'enter the Middle East,' but also 'enter the Rhine River' and 'enter the Mississippi River.' This is my dream, and it is also the dream of all Yuanjiang people."
On the morning of January 14, during a break in the subgroup discussion, Luo Bisheng was quite moved when talking to reporters about this dream.
